The United Church of Earth isn’t your usual church. Consequently, we get asked a lot of questions. Here are the answers you seek.

Is the United Church of Earth Part of any specific organized religion?

We’d probably be better categorized as “disorganized spirituality.” Generally speaking, we see all religions of the world as inherently valid, and inherently flawed. Our teachings are borrowed from many different religions and spiritual traditions, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and various pagan traditions.

How much do you charge for officiating weddings?

Ceremonies held in Black Rock City and regional Burning Man events are generally gratis.

Private ceremonies are typically billed at $300 plus expenses.

Do you really perform pet funerals?

Yes.

There are multiple photos on the Internet of Pastor Pete standing and/or walking on water. Can he really walk on water?

Not unless it’s frozen.

Does the United Church of Earth perform same-sex marriages?

We haven’t been asked to as of yet, but we would in a heart beat!  We believe that all love is holy.

There’s a rumor that Santa Claus is nearing retirement and that Pastor Pete is currently in-training as his replacement. Is that true?

We will neither confirm nor deny that rumor. 😉😉

Is the United Church of Earth a cult?

Please. 🙄 Cults have followers. Also, we don’t drink Kool-Aid. Except for the grape stuff, but only because artificial grape flavoring is awesome.
